A recent survey of 3,000 people suggests that the majority of people pretend to have read classic books in order to appear more intelligent, with more than half of those polled displaying unread books on their shelves.
Why, then, do so many of us lie about having read books? Is it to sound more intelligent, or worldly?
Or, maybe they rationalized it by reasoning that they had a familiarity with the book, or knew who the author was, or what the story was about? So lets see the top ten books people lie about reading them.
